Obituary for Adelaida Torres Cichon
Adelaida T. Cichon, 96, of Willimantic, passed away Friday, 5/5/06, in the Haven Health Center after a brief illness. She was born Nov. 21, 1909 in Puerto Rico the daughter of Ramon and Dolores (Villafane) Torres. Adelaida led a very active life and traveled extensively. In her teens, she was crowned “Miss Panama.” During her later years, she managed the coffee shop in Windham Hospital. Later, she joined the Foster Grandparents Program, retiring at the age of 90 with 20 years service, which included 6 years at the Holy Family Shelter. Her survivors include her grandson, Peter Honeycutt; sisters, Carmen Vasquez and Pearl Paquet; a brother, Ramon Torres and wife, .. She also leaves a niece, Diana and husband, Jack Hoffman and their family all of Florida, a niece, Christine Wall and family of Montana and Edward and Deb Wall from Connecticut. She was predeceased by a son, Thomas Honeycutt and sisters, Patricia Roy and Lolita Wall and her son, Jack Wall. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 5/9/05, at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Church in Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham.
