Obituary for Alain G. Cournoyer
Alain G. Cournoyer, 57, of Willimantic, CT, passed away peacefully in his sleep November 20th. Born in Sherbrooke, Canada, he was the son of the late Origene Cournoyer and Therese Ouimette.
A graduate of Windham High School in 1979, he was a hard-working painter who co-owned a business alongside his father for many years. Alain was also employed by Coca-Cola in East Hartford, CT, and for the last several years he worked for FedEx in Willington, CT.
Alain had many interests in life. He loved to garden which he learned from his father and taught his daughter. He loved being outdoors and was a member of the Windham Fish and Game Club where he enjoyed fishing and target shooting. He enjoyed taking his children fishing and especially enjoyed fishing derbies at the beginning of fishing season.
Alain will be remembered for his sense of humor and his unique laugh. He appreciated picnics, bonfires, playing pool and horseshoes, and making his family-famous spicy chicken wings with his son that the entire family enjoyed.
Alain is survived by his two children Amy and John Cournoyer of Chaplin, CT, his sisters Nicole Giuver of Pomfret, CT, Lisa Savaria of Canada and Carole Murphy of Windham, CT, his nieces Tracy Hansen and Linda Lambert and nephews Steven and Ryan Murphy, along with many other family members.
Alain will be deeply missed by his children, his family, and friends. He will always remain in our hearts and we will cherish the time we had with him.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring for close friends and family members.
