Obituary for Alan M. Casey
Alan “Al” M. Casey Sr, 83 of Willimantic husband of the late Gladys (Spencer) Casey passed away Wednesday January 19, 2022 at Kimberly Hall, Windsor. He was the son of the late Edward and Marjorie Casey.

Born on July 28, 1938 in Willimantic, CT, he lived on Card St in Willimantic for many years. Al worked as a rural postal carrier for 25 years. After retiring Al enjoyed his new occupation as grounds crew at Black Ledge Golf Club. Al was a very good bowler and represented the U.S Army while he was enlisted. Alan bowled in many local leagues as well. He was a fan of many sports. He loved to play golf and He enjoyed playing soft ball and coaching Jr league football. Al was also a big fan of the UConn basketball teams, mens and womens. Alan was a member of the Elks Club for many years and was the Exalted Rule in 1980. He also enjoyed frequenting many of the clubs in the area.

He is survived by his two children. Alan, his wife Denise Casey in North Carolina and Kari Casey in Andover Ct. His Sister and her husband, Hope and Lee Garrison in Chaplin Ct., their four children and families and His Sister in law Kathy Casey in Pomfret. Alan was preceded by his Brother John Casey in 2021. Alan also leaves behind his Grandchildren Samantha Valera and her husband Chris who reside in Marlborough Ct. Alex Picard in Illinois, Kaydi Picard in Michigan, Jordan Casey in North Carolina and Sydey Casey in Maryland. As well as his great grandchildren Liam and Abby Valera.

Alan was a lover of animals, especially dogs. As a rural carrier he always carried dog biscuits and became a celebrity in many neighborhoods. In lieu of flowers or baskets, Alan would love it if you could make a donation to the ASPCA or your local dog pound in his name. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring.
