Obituary for Alcide "Pete" LaBelle
Alcide “Pete” LaBelle, 89, husband of Stella LaBelle, died September 20, 2008 in Windham Hospital. He was born December 27, 1918 in Willimantic son of Alcide & Florina (Lariviere) LaBelle, Sr. A lifelong resident of Willimantic, “Pete” was a communicant of St. Joseph Church. During World War 2, he served with the Army in the Philippines and Solomon Islands and later was a member of the V.F.W. Gold Star Post 1724. Prior to his retirement, he worked for D.W. Willet Plumbing and Heating for many years. In addition to his wife his survivors include a son, John and his wife JoAnn of Florida, a daughter, Barbara Coriarty and her husband Rodney of Willimantic and a sister, Theresa Baran of Lebanon. He also leaves a grandson, Jonathan LaBelle and his wife Lisa of Florida; three granddaughters; Lynne Leone and her husband Gary of Bristol, CT, Jonica Wyman and her husband James of Florida and Sarah Lucia and her husband Jason of Willimantic. Also surviving are six great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Viola Demers and Loretta Michonski. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 9/24/08, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church in Willimantic. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. and again Wednesday, from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic.
