Obituary for Angelo John (Tambo) Tambornini
Angelo John “Tambo”Tambornini, 80, of Willimantic, Connecticut and Port St. Lucie, Florida passed away on Thursday August 28, 2014 surrounded by family in the comfort of his home. He was born in Willimantic, June 8, 1934 as the son of the late Domenico and Maria Fiamengo Tambornini. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ellen (Haggerty) Tambornini. He is also survived by his 3 daughters, Debra Glover and her husband Mark Glover, Kerri Brooks and her husband David Brooks and Kelly Folan and her husband Ken Folan. Affectionately known as “Grumpy” to his grandchildren, he is survived by his 7 grandchildren Kelsey and Craig Frant, Andrew and Taylor Brooks, Andrew and Nick Folan and Zak Quamme. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law John and Eleanor Haggerty, Elizabeth and Earl Sousa, Mary and James Miller, Susan King, Gerold Haggerty, Daniel and Linda Haggerty, Thomas Haggerty, James and Elaine Haggerty, Donald and Doris Haggerty as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Angelo served his country by enlisting in the Connecticut National Guard in the 143rd Tank Division-Company B and the 169th Infantry Division-Company C. Tambo was a member of the BPOE 1311, Willimantic; Windham Theatre Guild, Savanna Club Players and was past president of the Guiseppe Garabaldi Lodge: Order Sons of Italy in America. Angelo was retired from the State of Connecticut in 1986 and was an avid Men’s and Women’s Uconn Basketball fan and loved following the Huskies through thick and thin. He enjoyed travel and cruising and would never pass up the opportunity to have a nice plate of pasta. Calling hours will be on Friday, September 5, 2014 from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect Street, Willimantic, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Church, 99 Jackson Street, Willimantic, CT. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Windham CT.
