Obituary for Anna Mae Garceau
Anna Mae Garceau, a life long resident of Willimantic, died Sunday, May 7 at St. Joseph Living Center at the age of 86. Born Anna Mae Lonergan June 19, 1919, she was the daughter of James J. and Helen (Dixon) Lonergan. She married the late Roland Garceau on July 20, 1946 in St. Joseph Church. She is survived by her four children: Rev. Hildebrand James Garceau, O. Praem. Of California, Brian Garceau and his wife, Karen of Madison, David Garceau and his wife, Barbara of Chaplin, Margaret Garceau and her fiancé, Bill Wadsworth of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and her beloved grand-daughter, Genevieve. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, James J. Lonergan, Jr. Mrs. Garceau worked as a secretary at the University of Connecticut and Eastern Connecticut State University. As a member of St. Joseph Church, she was active in the Women’s Club and the parish choir. She was also a member of the Irish Club and after her retirement, she volunteered for the Cancer Society, St. Joseph Living Center, Windham Hospital, and the Windham Textile and History Museum. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 5/11/06, at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church in Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. Calling hours are Wednesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. and again Thursday, from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic.
