Obituary for Anna (Matwyko) Bartok
Anna (Matwyko) Bartok, 89, of Ashford, CT, widow of Joseph C. Bartok, died February 22, 2008 in Windham Hospital. She was born September 12, 1918 in Eastford, CT the daughter of Theodore and Tanka (Stanko) Matwyko. She retired from the University of CT in 1988. Mrs. Bartok was a communicant of St. Philip the Apostle Church in Warrenville and a member of St. Philip’s Ladies Guild and the Ashford Senior Center. Her survivors include three sons: William Bartok and his wife, Jerry, Michael Bartok and Joseph Bartok and his wife, Betty; four grandchildren: Jessica Ives, Pamela Bartok, Lt. Colonel John Canady and Michele Severy; also four great grandchildren: Jacob and Austin Canady and Riley and Parker Severy. She also leaves a sister-in-law and her husband, Helen and Robert McCann and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers; John, Michael and Stephen Matwyko. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 2/27/08, at 10 a.m. in St. Philip the Apostle Church in Warrenville. Please assemble at church. Burial will follow in St. Philip Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mansfield Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation’s Recreation Fund, 100 Warren Circle Storrs, CT 06268 in grateful appreciation for the excellent care provided her.
