Obituary for Annmarie (Stavinsky) DeGray

Ann Marie (Stavinsky) DeGray of Norwich, CT, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Salmon Brook Center in Glastonbury, CT, surrounded by her family. She was born in Windham, CT, daughter to the late Michael and Hazel (Tatro) Stavinsky. Ann, known by her family as Nanny, was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She was a homemaker and later in life, became a prep cook. For many years, she was the go-to babysitter for various toddler children in the neighborhoods in which she lived.Spending time with her grandchildren was the thing that she treasured most. She also loved traveling to many locations in the U.S. and always enjoyed eating in fine restaurants across the country and became a little “foodie”. Finding new places to dine with her family was always an enjoyable activity for her and she had quite a collection of menus she had gathered throughout the years. She also spent countless hours watching the Food Network and PBS cooking shows. Ann is survived by her four children, eldest daughter, Bonita (Bonnie) Marie (Morris) Ahern and her husband James, of Sutton, MA, son, Corri DeGray of Canterbury, CT, daughter Lisa (DeGray) Brock and husband Charles (Chuck) Brock of East Hampton, CT and daughter Michelle DeGray of Norwich, CT. Grandchildren include siblings Michael Ahern with wife Lisa, James Ahern with wife Jillian, and Lori with husband Jeff Perry, siblings Cody John and Colten James DeGray, siblings Charlie and Emily Brock, and finally, Kyle Christian DeGray. Great Grandchildren include Max, Isla, Tanner, Mackenzie, Lilly and James. Her Family would like to thank the staff and residents at Salmon Brook Center for their
kindness, caring and compassion during the past eight years. The Family will receive relatives and friends for a memorial service on Monday, April 24, 2017 from 4pm to 6pm at Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St., Willimantic, CT. 06226.
