Obituary for Anthony Nadile
Anthony Nadile, 97, of Willimantic, CT; Father, Grandfather, protector, and gentle man of God went home to join his family and the Lord. Anthony, the devoted husband of the late Naglia Julia (Haddad) Nadile, his wife of 67 years, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021. He’s blessed with two daughters, Noreen Nadile of Willimantic, CT, and Nancy Randazzo; husband, Edward, of Wethersfield, CT, as well as grandson, and namesake Anthony Randazzo of Winter Garden, Florida. Born in Groton, CT he was the son of the late Joseph and Barbera (Michenzie) Nadile. He was born on Veterans Day, November 11, 1923 and enthusiastically served his country in Southern France, The Rhineland, and Central Europe. Anthony was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart GO 18 HQ 45th Infantry Division, and The European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with Bronze Arrowhead.

Dad began working at the local A&P, while simultaneously at The City of Willimantic Police Department (Supernumerary) for in excess of 25 years to support his family. He then moved on and began working as The Chief Operator and Chemist of The Willimantic Waterworks for twenty years.

His personal life was often busy just as his professional. Dad was proud to serve numerous times as the President of The Lebanese American Club of Willimantic, since his wife Naglia was Lebanese. He was also a member of the Italian American Club, in honor of his heritage. In addition, for 25 years, he was the Chairman of The Policeman’s Ball, a fundraiser for the Police Benevolent Association. Finally, he was a proud Thirty Third Degree Mason. In his free time, for fifty-eight years, dad’s pleasure each summer was sitting in a lawn chair, beside his family, gazing at the water as it “danced like diamonds,” and going clamming and quahogging with his wife Naglia, at his family beach house in Groton Long Point, CT.

Anthony was one of nine siblings; he is survived by Mary Burroughs, Rose Royal, and Charles Nadile and also leaves several nieces and nephews .Those siblings who preceded him in death are Shirley Holton, Vincent Nadile, John Nadile, Rocco Nadile, and Rudolph Nadile.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday January 12, at 11:30AM at St. Joseph Church, located at 99 Jackson St, Willimantic. Burial will follow in New Willimantic Cemetery. There are no calling hours; however, all are welcome at the church and grave site. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 63, Willimantic, CT, 06226.
