Obituary for Armand Albert Martineau
Martineau, Armand Albert Joseph, Lebanon formerly of Willimantic
died on April 16,2014.
He was born in Willimantic, Ct. on January 28, 1929 son of Albert and Marcelle LeClerc Martineau. Armand was united in marriage to his beloved Josephine Aligata on June 24, 1949.
He is survived by his daughter Joyce Hofmann of Lebanon, his son Tony & his wife Gail Martineau of Fryeburg, Maine and his son Steven & his wife Lynn Martineau of Dunwoody, Georgia, his grandson Jason Christian Hofmann & his wife Rebekah, granddaughter Melissa Ann Hofmann of Lebanon, Ct., granddaughter Erica Lyn Martineau-McGuire & Chris McGuire of Scarborough, Maine, grandson Timothy Ian Martineau of North Conway, NH, granddaughter Sydney Amber Martineau of Dunwoody, Georgia and his 4 great grandchildren Madison, Maisey, Skylar and Gunnar all of Lebanon Ct., and his sister Dorothy Martineau of Willimantic and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Armand was predeceased by his wife Josephine, his brother James Martineau and his son-in- law Christian Hofmann.
Armand’s father Albert signed for him to join the United States Navy during World War II. He was stationed on the U.S.S. Virgo in the Pacific Theater. Armand was the ship’s barber. His barber profession lasted until November 2010 when he “retired” from his volunteer work at the Lebanon Senior Center.
Armand always found time to volunteer and served his Community as an Alderman and as a Selectman in Willimantic. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus, the French Club of Willimantic, and other service organizations including the Elks, VFW, and American Legion Post 180.
Mr. Martineau was a Communicant of St. Francis of Assisi, Lebanon, Connecticut. His family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday, 4/23/14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic, CT. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 4/24/14, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial with, full military honors, will follow in the New Lebanon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lebanon Lions Chris Hofmann Eye Glass Fund, P. O. Box 13, Lebanon, CT. 06249.
