Obituary for Augustine A. Lombardo) Carchidi
Augustine A. (Dolly) (Lombardo) Carchidi entered into eternal life on September 29, 2014.  Born in Willimantic, Connecticut to the late Charles & Mary (Giraca) Lombardo on January 2, 1923.  She married Giochino (Jack) Carchidi on October 5, 1946 at St. Joseph Church Willimantic, where she remained a communicant and member of  St. Joseph Women’s Club.  Her family was the focus of her life.  Beloved wife of Jack Carchidi; devoted mother to Peter Carchidi of Quincy, Massachusetts; Karen Carchidi of Willimantic and Colleen and her husband Michael Lester of Columbia, Connecticut. Loving grandmother to Katie Lester of Mansfield, Massachusetts, and Senior Airman Ryan Lester of Columbia, Connecticut, currently serving in Afghanistan.  She is also survived by her brother, Michael Lombardo of North Windham, Connecticut, and several loving nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her sisters Josephine Lombardo and Jennie Charron, and her brothers Louis and Phillip Lombardo. She was a homemaker her entire life, she loved to cook. She was employed by the Electro Motive Manufacturing Company in Willimantic and The State of Connecticut. She retired in 1985 and became an avid reader. Augustine’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff members at Windham Hospital, Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, and VNA East for their wonderful care. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Jackson St. Willimantic, CT. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Club Rd. Windham. Her family will receive friends TODAY, Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Church Renovation Fund, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic, CT 06226.
