Obituary for Bernice (Bernie) Kerouack
Bernice M. Kerouack Born: October 19, 1922 Died: May 21, 2018

Known to all as Bernie, she spent her work life in retail. She began as a clerk at Woolworth’s upon graduating high school. She was promoted to manager and had a career spanning 45 years. Upon retirement she went to work at Tubridy’s for 10 years. After retiring again, she spent 9 years working at Hallmark.

Bernie was an avid bowler and card player. She loved to read, especially history. She enjoyed trips to the beach and family picnics. She went to the theater with friends and enjoyed eating out with them. A highlight of her life was a trip to Europe.

Bernie was known for her cocktail sauce and kielbasa, eggnog, and making the turkey gravy. She brought tradition to Christmas Eve, once traveling through the snow for 6 hours as not to miss the event.

She had a loving heart. She often opened her home to those in need. Family and friends were the most important things in her life. She leaves two of her closest friends, Mary Lou Keables and Pat Tolokan who helped her when life became confusing. The family is very grateful.

The family would like to thank the staff of Crestfield Rehabilitation Center of Manchester for their wonderful care of Bernie in her later years.

She is predeceased by her mother Viola Tighe.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday June 16th at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Church in Newington. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Church and Cemetery, Wauregan Village, Plainfield.
