Obituary for Bertha Lina Gauthier
Bertha Lina Gauthier, 98, of Willimantic passed away Monday July 18, 2022 at Douglas Manor. She was the daughter of the late Adger and Blanche (Caron) Gauthier.
Born on December 30, 1923 in Scotland, CT, she was always called Lina by her family and friends. At 18, she moved with her family to Jordan Road in Windham. As most all of her generation she worked from home front to support the WWII effort, then went on to work as a bookkeeper for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. Liking a challenge, she moved on to being an office manager and board member for a small business and finally finishing out her professional career at a non-profit in Hartford. Although Lina had a few peers she enjoyed, most of her social activities were with her family. She was loving and generous to her parents, and families of her sister, Violet, and her brother, Bennie. She had many good times with aunts, uncles and cousins, and the generations that followed. Lina was a serious professional woman but with family she was known for her quick humor and laughter.
She is survived by her niece and husband, Susan and David Gosselin, great niece Laura Gosselin Powell, and five great nephews, Leigh Gauthier, Timothy Gosselin, Peter Gosselin, Armand Gauthier and Spencer Gauthier and their spouses and children. A nephew, Bill Naholnik and family. She was pre-decreased by her sister, Violet Gauthier Naholnik and her husband Charles; and her brother, Benoit Gauthier and his wife, Margaret Gauthier; her nephews, Lawrence Gauthier and Jack Naholnik.
A Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday July 26, at 11AM at St. Mary Church 46 Valley St, Willimantic. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. There are no calling hours. To send an online expression of sympathy, please visit www.baconfh.com
