Obituary for Bertha (Marschat) Gouin
Bertha Marschat Gouin, 81 of Oxford, MA, formerly of Lebanon, CT. Beloved wife of Robert F. Gouin, Sr., passed away in Oxford at Sunbridge/Sandalwood Rehabilitation on October 12 after a long illness.             Born June 3, 1926 in Storrs, CT the daughter of Anna Sofie Chanski Marschat and Joseph Marschat. Bertha graduated from Windham High School in 1944 and married her husband of 63 years on July 27, 1945.  Bertha was an extremely devoted wife and mother. She loved children and worked for several years as a teacher’s aid at the Lebanon Elementary School. After retiring, Bertha volunteered for the Northeastern CT Chapter #147 of the National Association of Civilian Conservation Corps as Secretary, along with her husband. She loved gardening and preserving vegetables and fruits and her earlier interests were horseback riding, skating and bowling.             Bertha is survived by three sons, Robert Jr. of Leominster, MA, Gregory Gouin and his wife Judy, of Peachtree City, GA, Roderick Gouin of Willimantic, and a daughter, Giselle Komorowski, and her husband Mark, of Oakdale. Seven grandchildren include, Douglas Gouin, Laura Wooding, Heather Gouin, Beau Gouin, Ericka Komorowski, Ethan Komorowski and Erin Hill. Also surviving her are seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Robert on Friday, infant twins Christopher and Christine, her son Keith J. Gouin, and her only sister, Ann Holland.            The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday, 10/15/08, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic, CT followed by a procession to St. Joseph Church in Willimantic for the celebration of her Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham.
