Obituary for Carol Ann (Phillips) Bacon
Carol Ann (Phillips) Bacon, 80, of Willimantic, wife of Louis E. Bacon, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day 2017 at Hartford Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born in Willimantic on December 14, 1937, the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Bobeck) Phillips. She attended Natchaug Grammar School and was a 1955 graduate of Windham High School. She worked at the American Screw Company, American Thread Company, St. Mary-St. Joseph School, and Windham Public Schools, from where she retired. Carol was a very thoughtful, caring, and selfless person. She was a hard-worker, full of energy, and always taking care of others. She enjoyed gardening, playing on her iPad, and doing puzzles. She loved the holidays, especially Christmas, and she always went above and beyond to make every occasion special for her loved ones with her exceptional cooking and decorating. Carol will be deeply missed by all. In addition to her husband of 59 years, she is survived by her three children, son Louis J. Bacon and his wife Kristen of Columbia, son Glenn Bacon of Willimantic, and daughter Diane Schatz and her husband Fred of Columbia; her two granddaughters, Sarah and Samantha Schatz; her sister, Paula Sherman; and many nieces and nephews. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, December 29th between 9:00 and 10:30 am at Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St., Willimantic prior to her 11:00 am Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church, 46 Valley St., Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Club Road, Windham. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests memorial donations to the American Heart Association, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241, or the American Lung Association of CT, 45 Ash St., East Hartford, CT 06108.
