Obituary for Colette (Belanger) Ricard
Colette (Belanger) Ricard, 78, of Windham, widow of Emile “Eddy” Ricard, died April 2, 2008 in Windham Hospital. She was born August 13, 1929 in St. Damase, P.Q. Canada daughter of Zepherin and Irene (Gamache) Belanger. She was a member and Past President for 25 years of St. Anne’s Society and a communicant of St. Mary Church in Willimantic. Mrs. Ricard volunteered at the Immaculata Retreat House and Windham Hospital. She enjoyed knitting, cross-stitching and playing cards with her friends. Her survivors include a son, Mike Ricard and his wife Suzanne of Windham; a daughter, Suzie Sassaman and her husband Tom of Poughkeepsie, NY; eight grandchildren: Jason, David, Melanie and Marc Ricard and Richie, Corey, Jessica and Tim Sassaman; and four great grandchildren: Jillian and Camryn Ricard and Hayden and Kathryn Sassaman. She also leaves four brothers: Herve Belanger and his wife Rita, Denis Belanger and his wife Celine, Claude Belanger and his wife, Noella and Bertrand Belanger and his wife Georgette all of St. Damase, Canada; two sisters, Pauline Belanger of St. Damase and Lise Chouinard and her husband Phydime of Quebec; also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Also surviving are two brothers-in-law: Paul Aime Ricard and his wife Yvette of Willimantic and Rene Ricard and his wife Sue of Coventry; two sisters-in-law: Ida Weaver and Irene Ricard both of Windham. She was predeceased by a son, Ricky Ricard and two brothers, Jean-Guy and Amable Belanger. We would like to thank LuAnn White for the exceptional care provided Colette. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 4/5/08, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary Church in Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and again Saturday from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic.
