Obituary for Craig D. Gingras
COLUMBIA – Craig D. Gingras, 55, a longtime resident of Mansfield Center, died unexpectedly on Monday, April 4, 2016. Born in Manchester, CT on January 17, 1961, he was the son of Ronald L. and Norma E. (Wolff) Gingras of Mansfield Center.
Craig was a graduate of E.O. Smith High School's Class of 1979. After high school he joined the family business, Gingras Shoes, working alongside his father and brother. When he and his brother eventually became co-owners of the business he took great pride in being the third generation to run the store. After closing the business he worked for Frito Lay for several years and was last employed by the Windham Regional Transportation District as a driver. He loved spending time kayaking and enjoying other outdoor activities. Until recently, he had been a member of the Columbia Lions Club.
He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents he is survived by two children, Kyle Gingras of Mansfield Center and Megan Gingras of Los Angeles, CA; brother Brian Gingras and wife Nancy of Eastford; a nephew and niece, Corey and Shay Gingras; and his uncle Merton Wolff with whom he recently resided. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. The Bacon Funeral Home is assisting with private arrangements. Friends who wish to make a donation in his memory should direct them to the Columbia Lions Club, ATTN: Dan Osmond, PO Box 1, Columbia, CT 06237.
