Obituary for Daniel B. Cretella
Daniel B. Cretella, 74, of Mansfield Center, husband of Irene (Bergeron) Cretella passed away Monday November 4, 2019 at home. He was the son of the late Gaetano and Josephine (Conte) Cretella
Born on December 8, 1944 in Providence, RI, Dan has lived in Cranston and Johnston, RI, East Lyme, CT, and settled in Mansfield, CT where he lived the past 41 years. He started his career as a teacher at Roger Williams University, then worked as an electrical engineer at Electric Boat and Analysis and Technology. He later taught physics at Rocky Hill High School (E. Greenwich, RI) and Xavier High School (Middletown, CT). Dan was a diehard NY Yankees fan and enjoyed traveling and camping with his family. He also loved animals especially his beloved dog Sophie.
Besides his wife, Irene whom he was married to for 47 years he is survived by 3 sons, Brian, Ken, and Mike; he was also the proud grandfather of Dom and Alexa Cretella; and also leaves a brother, John Cretella and his wife, Rita of Barrington, RI.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday November 8, from 5 to 7PM at Bacon Funeral Home 71 Prospect St, Willimantic. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday November 9, at 10AM directly at St. Mary Church 57 Valley St, Willimantic. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CT. Humane Society 701 Russell Rd, Newington, CT. 06111.
