Obituary for David Alan Maynard
David Alan Maynard 60, Retired Willimantic City Firefighter and owner of Maynard Trucking and Excavation Inc., passed away on September 14, 2011 surrounded by family and friends at his home.   David was born on June 27, 1951 in Springfield Mass to Donald E and Stella Maynard. David graduated from Enfield High in 1970 and attended Sterling College Sterling Kansas where he played football. David married Jayne Keehner on April 6, 1974. David served as a Willimantic Firefighter for 28 years; before coming to Willimantic he served as a North Thompsonville Firefighter and a United Technologies Firefighter. He was a member of the Willimantic Elks Club and the Windham Fish and Game Club. David leaves behind his wife Jayne, his daughter Andrea and her husband Mike Cone of Scotland, His son Matthew and his wife Kate and their daughters Hattie and Etta of Storrs. He also leaves his mother Stella and mother-in-law Margie, his brother Kenneth and wife Barbara of Enfield, His sister Patricia and husband James Moriarity of Danbury and his brother-in-law Robert Keehner and his wife Helena of South Charleston Ohio. He also leaves one niece and six nephews. David was an avid fisherman and loved his vacations at the Outer Banks. One thing Papa Dave will miss the most is his precious granddaughters Hattie and Etta. David was also active in the WYO for many years. While serving as a Willimantic Firefighter he received several commendations for his bravery and compassion for others. David was outgoing and always had a big smile for everyone.
Burial will be private. Friends are invited to A Celebration of David’s life at the Willimantic Elks Club, 198 Pleasant Street, Willimantic, CT, from 1:00 to 4:00 Saturday September 17, 2011. Bacon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
