Obituary for Donat Elie Champagne
Donat Elie Champagne, 84, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, 3/14/06, in his home. He was born October 8, 1921 in Bellingham, MA the son of the late Donat S. and Yvonne (Lawrie) Champagne. He graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor of Science degree and did graduate studies at Harvard University. Mr. Champagne owned and operated Graphic Photo in Willimantic. He served with the Navy in World War 2 and was honorably released as a Lieutenant Junior Grade. He was a member of AMVETS and a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Willimantic. Donat was an avid gardener and fisherman. His survivors include a brother, Gerard Champagne and his wife, Anne of Olean, NY; a nephew, Gordon Champagne and his wife, Cheryl of Indiana; two nieces: Christine Bredwell and her husband, Tom of Tucson, AZ and Cheryl Seibers of Texas. He also leaves several cousins in Willimantic including Lorraine Bergeron and Donat Lebeau. Donat was predeceased by a brother, Ernest Champagne. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, 3/17/06, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church in Willimantic. Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham.
