Obituary for Doris (Tellier) Carpenter
Doris (Tellier) Carpenter passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Windham Hospital surrounded by her loving family after a short illness. Doris was born August 27, 1920 and lived in Willimantic most of her life and resided for the past 5 years at Douglas Manor.   She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Omar Samuel and her eldest son, Kenneth.  During her lifetime she worked at American Thread, Electro Motive and Barker’s Department store.  She loved playing cards and spending time with her extended family.  She is survived by her 6 children: Richard Carpenter of Mesa, AZ, Marie Ogozalek of Wakefield, RI, Gloria Carpenter of Brooklyn, CT, Philip & Terrie Carpenter of Coventry, CT,  Ronald Carpenter of London, OH and Robert and Nina Carpenter of Hahira, GA,  along with 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express its appreciation to the staff at Douglas Manor for their compassionate and caring ministrations and also to the staff at the Windham Emergency Room and the CCU unit. Her family will receive friends TODAY, 12/30/13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic, CT. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 12/31/13, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Jackson St. Willimantic. Please assemble at church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Club Rd. Windham. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Douglas Manor Patient Recreation Fund, 103 North Rd. Windham, CT 06280.
