Obituary for Dorothy Theresa Brummett
Dorothy Theresa Brummett, 79, died on Sunday, March 18, 2007 at Windham Hospital.  She was born on June 7, 1927 in Norwich, Connecticut, the daughter of the late Alfred and Mary (Blanchette) Talbot.   Dorothy attended St. Patrick School in Norwich and was a graduate of the Norwich Free Academy class of 1945.             She was married to Palmer O’Neal Brummett on October 26, 1946 at the Cathedral of St. Patrick in Norwich.  He died on June 17, 1981.   After she and Palmer were married, they lived for a short time in Norwich and in Preston before settling in Baltic where they lived for many years.  She was most recently living in Plainfield.              After graduating from high school, Dorothy worked at the former Reid & Hughes and for the former Goldberg’s Furniture in Norwich.  She was later employed as a bookkeeper for Engineering–Landscape Collaborators, and then at Moran’s Insurance Agency, where she worked until her retirement.   She was a parishioner of St. John Church in Plainfield.   Dorothy was a loving wife and mother, and will be remembered as a gentle, loving person whose greatest love in life was her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her three daughters, Charlene A. Durrence of Danielson, Cheryl J. Mares, and her husband, Michael, of Plainfield, and Michelle Marie Brummett of Jewett City; her son Thomas N. Brummett, and his wife, Patricia, of Canterbury; two brothers, Richard Talbot, and his wife, Genevieve, of Westminster, CA and Gerald Talbot, and his wife, Anna, of Baltic; her sister, Joyce A. Golas, and her husband, Joseph, of Norwich; seven grandchildren, Kenneth L. Durrence of Capitola, CA, Paul Brunet of Plainfield, Wendy L. Held of Griswold, Jennifer Beaudoin of Plainfield, Erick Dierman of Griswold, Jessica A. Durrence of Danielson and Carole E. Brummett of Rocky Hill; Four great-grandsons; her sister-in-law, Maureen Talbot of Lisbon; and many nieces and nephews.  She was pre-deceased by her brother Donald Talbot.            The funeral will assemble on Friday at 9:00 a.m. at the Dougherty Bros. Funeral Home, 595 Norwich Road, Plainfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Church, Plainfield.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Baltic.  Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.  Donations in her memory may be made to St. Joseph Living Center, 14 Club Rd., Windham, CT 06280.
