Obituary for Fay (Capacchione) Piszczek
With great sadness, Fay Piszczek passed away peacefully on April 29, 2017 at Backus Hospital after a brief illness. She was born on May 11, 1921 to Ferdinand and Concetta Capacchione in Staten Island, NY, and with her family moved to Preston, CT at the age of 6. Fay graduated from Norwich Free Academy and married the love of her life Henry Piszczek who predeceased her in 1991. Together they raised their family and built a successful life on Hellgate Farm. Fay had several secretary jobs in her life, but her true loves were her family, tending her flower gardens, braiding rugs and sewing hand-made quilts which we will always cherish. Fay was an inspiration to everyone she met with her “I can do it myself” attitude. In spite of her poor vision, she led a happy and productive life. Fay is survived by her daughter Virginia and her husband Terrence, son Gary and his wife Carol and the joys of her life, her grandchildren, Alex and Dorothy, goddaughter Connie, nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Fay was predeceased by her brothers, Michael, Paul and Frank and her sister Ann Mikna. The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the staff on E-3 and A-3 at Backus Hospital for their kindness and compassion shown to Fay and her family. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 5/3/17, at 11:00 a.m. in St Catherine of Siena Church, 243 Route 164, Preston, CT. Burial will follow in the Preston City Cemetery, Route 165, Preston.
