Obituary for Fernande Brandt
Fernande Brandt, 86, of Willimantic died Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at Rockville General Hospital. She was born November 11, 1924 in Willimantic, CT, the daughter of the late Napoleon and Rose Alma (Beaulieu) Desjarlais. Fern had been employed in the healthcare industry for many years, including the Mansfield Training School. She applied wisdom gained from her career to serve as a friend and advocate for other residents during her years living in Woodlake at Tolland. Her strength is an inspiration to her family. Her survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Barry King of Vernon, CT; two grandchildren, Brian Schenck and Christina Brannick; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sister, Irene Desjarlais, and four brothers: Rosario Desjarlais, Conrad Desjarlais, Armand Desjarlais, and Leo Desjarlais.Â
           A calling hour will be held on Friday, December 10, at the Bacon Funeral Home, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church in Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations for the Woodlake Wishes Fund may be made to ECHN Community Healthcare Foundation, 71 Haynes Street, Manchester, CT 06040.
