Born on February 3, 1930 to the late Albert Brisson and Irene (Fogg) McCarthy, “Flo” lived her life with deep love for God, her family and friends. Predeceased by her husband, Conrad J. Desjarlais; a sister, Doris (Brisson) Flynn; a brother, Carroll Phillips and a granddaughter, Laurie (Rasicot) Champany, “Flo” leaves her sons Ronald and his wife Patricia (Welden) Desjarlais, Gary and his wife Pamela (Wellington) Desjarlais; daughters Diane and her husband Robert Rasicot, Karen and her husband Clayton Doubleday, Sandra and her husband Joseph Kimmey; a brother, Thomas and his wife Shelia (Hughes) McCarthy; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
In her youth, Flo and her best friend, Rita Parla, would take the train from Willimantic to Hartford to see their favorite crooners, big bands and go dancing. During the time they worked at Electro Motive Mfg. Co.,she and Rita would rush home during lunch to watch their favorite soaps/ Later in life, their interests turned to bingo and then just reminiscing at Douglas Manor.
Flo and Conrad had a large property with a pond and it was a gathering place for many over the years. People used to say it was like a park. There was swimming and picnics in summer and ice skating parties in winter. After retirement, Wednesday afternoons were devoted to some very competitive croquet games with friends and family at the “Park”. Hobbies over the years included swimming, crocheting, knitting, reading, gardening and water aerobics. You couldn't find a sweeter, kinder person. We will eternally celebrate the gift of her life.
