Obituary for George A. Melnick
George A. Melnick, 92 of Eastford husband of Joan (Godvin) Melnick passed away Saturday April 9, 2022 at Backus Hospital. He was the son of the late Andrew and Meri (Kisak) Melnick.

Born on June 5, 1929 in Lebanon, CT he has lived in Eastford since 1989. He worked in maintenance at the University of Connecticut for 30 years until retiring. He was a U.S Army veteran having served during the Korean War and receiving the German Occupational Medal. He was a member of the American Legion General Lyon Post 203 Department of Connecticut, and also enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, furniture making and fresh and salt water fishing.

Besides his wife of 66 years, he leaves his children, Daniel P. Melnick, George A. Melnick Jr, and Carol J. McCarthy all of Eastford; and a sister, Jennie Brewster of Lebanon. He was predeceased by a brother, William Melnick; sisters Rose Marinoccio and Anna Pehowdy; and step siblings,Helen Thomas, Marian DeFay and Henry Ware.

Graveside services with military honors will be held on Thursday April 14, at 11AM at Eastford Grove Cemetery Rt 198 Eastford with Pastor Mike Moran of Eastford Congregational Church officiating. A reception will follow at Midway Restaurant Rt 44, Ashford. There are no calling hours.
