Obituary for George L. Haddad
George L. Haddad, 90, of Willimantic, beloved husband of the late Jeanette (Patros) Haddad, died September 15, 2012 in Windham Hospital. He was born September 28, 1921 in Willimantic, CT the son of Louis G. and Rose (Haddad) Haddad. George served with the 4th Marine Division in the invasion of Iwo Jima, where he was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart. He worked for the Electric Boat Division for more than 50 years as a Senior Electrical Designer. George was a 60 year member of the Coventry Akron Lodge #83F&AM and the AASR both of Canton, OH; and additionally was affiliated with other Masonic Organizations. He was also a member of the Lebanese Syrian American Club, Disabled Veterans Assoc. and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Willimantic. His survivors include two sisters: Mrs. Anthony Nadile of Willimantic and Mrs. Florence Modi of Norwich; two brothers: Mr. Arthur Haddad of Red Hook, NY and Mr. Henry Haddad of Wethersfield, CT. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. His family will receive relative and friends Wednesday, 9/19/12, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic. His Funeral Service will be celebrated Thursday, 9/20/12, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Jacqueline Sheldon. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in the New Willimantic Cemetery, Route 32 Willimantic.
