Obituary for Gladys K. Lemieux
Gladys K. Lemieux, 85, of Windham, wife of the late Normand Lemieux passed away Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Douglas Manor in Windham, CT. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Katherine (Horwath) Haberern.

Born on July 27, 1933 in Manchester, Gladys was raised on her parents farm in Coventry, CT with her four brothers.
Gladys and her late husband, an Air Force veteran who served in the Korean War, had several successful businesses in Willimantic including Superior Electronics, The Park Central Hotel and Mrs. Superior's Rentals, the latter of which Gladys was President. Although they suffered a major setback, losing their building as a result of the infamous Willimantic Valentine’s Day Fire, they rebuilt their business and enjoyed serving the greater Windham community for many decades. Through their entrepreneurial skills they received travel bonuses for sales and had great adventures traveling abroad and with their family in the USA.

Gladys also worked in dining services at UCONN for over a decade. She had a flair for hospitality and enjoyed making special dining experiences. Gladys enjoyed cooking, spending time with pets, and hosting gatherings with her growing family on their Windham Center farm.
As always, she made friends wherever she went and enjoyed keeping in touch with people through visits, letters and phone calls after her retirement. The Douglas Manor Family lovingly cared for Gladys for five years and is recognized for their exceptional delivery of care.

Gladys was predeceased by her eldest daughter Marie Stewart, she is survived by three devoted children and their families, Michele and Stephen Canfield of Canterbury, CT, Melinda Lemieux of Covington, GA, and Joe and Kathe Lemieux of Storrs, CT. She has 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great great grandson. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
