Obituary for Graham J. Chesmer
Graham J. Chesmer, 62, of Franklin, CT passed away on December 28th at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Chelthenam, England on February 1st, 1950 and was the son of the late Henry Chesmer and Violet Chesmer Kapochkin. Graham attended Severnvale Secondary School and went on to be an apprentice at Dowty Rotol while attending Gloucester Tech. Graham and his family moved from England to the U.S. in 1978. He worked at Rogers Corportation in South Windham, where he was a highly skilled toolmaker and then went on to work at Connecticut Spring & Stamping in Farmington, where he worked for over 20 years. Graham was meticulous in his work and had the ability to fix anything.  He helped build his own house, welded on weekends, and even made jewelry.  His hobbies included playing cribbage, fishing with his buddy Ray, scientific discussions with his grandson, taking trips "downtown" to the casino, enjoying the company of his cats and loyal dogs Ruby and Sydney, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Sandy, son Scott Chesmer and partner Lisa Vincent, daughter Claire Chesmer and partner David Mieczynski, and grandson Sebastian Tonewo.  He also leaves behind family and friends in England including his mother and stepfather Tadek, sister Paula and family, brother Ian, Auntie Mil and Uncle Ger; his family here: Uncle David and Auntie Dorothy Chesmer, cousins Robin Chesmer, Lynda Breault and Pat McMahon and their families, additionally, his Auntie Kath Chess and cousins in Canada. Also surviving are his mother-in-law Nita Smith, father-in-law Frank Webley, brothers-in-law Jeff Webley and Neil Smith and their families. A celebration will take place in his honor on Sunday, January 13th at 2p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Lebanon Fellowship Hall, 694 Trumbull Highway, Lebanon,CT.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association at www.lung.org/donate/.
