Obituary for Harold E. Smith
Harold E. Smith, 85, of Willimantic, husband of the late Winifred (Dawson) Smith, died Tuesday, 11/14/06, at home. He was born May 27, 1921 in Coventry, CT the son of William and Alma (Swanson) Smith. He had been employed by the H. L. Diehl Co. (manufacturers of the “Giant Vac”) in South Windham for many years. Harold was an Army veteran of World War 2. He was a member of the Coventry Volunteer Fire Dept. and the V.F.W. Gold Star Post 1724. His survivors include a son, William E. Smith and his wife, Barbara of Andover; two granddaughters: Lori Smith-Lalla and her husband, Matthew of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Joelle Carbonell and her husband, Joseph of Ellington, CT. He also leaves four great grandchildren: Amber and Jeremy Lalla and Erin and Shannon Carbonell and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic followed by a Service at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
