Obituary for Jean "Jennie" M. Janowski
Jean “Jennie” (Olszewski) Janowski, 94, of Stafford Springs, formerly of Willimantic, widow of John Janowski, died March 21, 2010. She was born March 25, 1915 the daughter of John and Mary (Malita) Olszewski in Willimantic, CT where she lived all of her life. Her survivors include her son John E. Janowski of Enfield and his sons Eric Janowski of Denver, CO and David Janowski of Vernon. Also surviving are her daughter Sandra Lee and her husband Leonard J. Lee of Tolland and their children: Laurie Devaney and her husband Mark of Tolland, Jennifer Hussey and her husband Walter of West Hartford and Leonard J. Lee and his wife Claudia of Hollywood, FL. She also leaves great grandchildren: Keenan, Cassandra & Aidan Devaney and Joseph, Daniel and Thomas Hussey; a sister-in-law, Gloria Olszewski and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Albert, Stanley and Joseph Olszewski and her sister, Helen Wojnar. Mrs. Janowski retired from the Electro-Motive Co. in Willimantic and was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Willimantic. She loved the Boston Red Sox, UConn men’s and women’s basketball teams and enjoyed crocheting and crafts. The family would like to thank Dr. Mary Barry and her staff for the many years of dedicated care and the Evergreen Health Care Center of Stafford Springs and their staff for the fine care provided the last 18 months. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Church in Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and again Wednesday from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic, CT followed by a procession to the church. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to St. Joseph Church’s Renovation Fund, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic, 06226.
