Obituary for Jeanne Rhea Labbe
Jeanne Rhea (Garceau) Labbe, 75, of Mansfield, Connecticut, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully, in her sleep, on the afternoon of November 29, 2017.
She leaves behind her husband of 56 years, Conrad J. Labbe, her children Lauri Port, Robert Labbe, Michelle Burnore, Sean Labbe, Jennifer Jones, and several beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and siblings.
Jeanne was born September 13, 1942 to Louis Garceau and Theresa (Baribeault) Garceau, both deceased. She was the eldest of six children: Annette Grover, Richard Garceau, (both whom predeceased her), and is survived by Jacqueline Ausburger, Paul Garceau, and Teresa Garceau.
She was a singer in her youth, published a song, and soon met her husband Conrad J. Labbe. Her life was filled with family,
love, generosity, and strength. She had a beautiful singing voice, sharp wit, great sense of humor, a big laugh, and a passion for her grandchildren, reading, quilting, and camping. She spoke with a decidedly Rhode Island accent, even though she had never lived there.
She could make us laugh with a single statement, or freeze us with a single look. We called her the Queen Bee, because she was the rock and foundation of our family.
A wake will be held Thursday, December 7th from 6pm to 8pm at Bacon Funeral Home in Willimantic, Connecticut. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, 12/8/17 at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Church in Coventry, Connecticut. Burial will be private.
We will miss seeing you every day, Mom. We will carry you in our hearts forever.
