Obituary for Jerry Charles Iazzetta
Jerry Charles Iazzetta beloved husband of Stephanie (Shirshac-Tabor) entered his eternal journey with the Lord on  February 11, 2013. Son of the late Salvatore and Catherine (Caviglia) Iazzetta, Jerry was born in Brooklyn, New York,  on April 30, 1941. Jerry was dedicated to and loved his family. He leaves behind a daughter, Catherine Holden, her husband Lance and grandchildren Tyler and Kylie. His children by marriage, Michael Tabor Jr, Carrie Fish and grandson, Zachary. Amy Tabor, Jon Gyhra and grandaughter, Mykaela. A brother, Frank Iazzetta and his wife Diane. A sister, Kathy Tepedino and her husband Joe and their children Theresa and  Christina. Jerry also leaves behind a dearly loved aunt and uncle, Ralph and Grace Alliegro. He will be sadly missed by his five brothers in law and their families: Steve and Marylynn Shirshac, Robin and Laurie Shirshac, Randy, Ellen and Michael Shirshac, Andrew, Mary Ellen, Luke, Sarah and Emily Shirshac and Gary Shirshac and his children Henry, Louis and Olivia.Jerry worked as the Town Engineer both in Windham and in South Windsor, Connecticut. He served on numerous boards in the Town of Windham including Town Council Member, Selectman and as a member of the Planning & Zoning Commission. Jerry was an active member of his church community at St. Mary in Willimantic. He was a Eucharistic Minister, a Lector and he served on different committees and boards at the Church. Jerry was an active member of the Willimantic Camp Meeting Association serving as President, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Executive Committee Member, and Collector and most recently as Chairman of the Ad Hoc Septic Committee. Jerry enjoyed teaching religious education to children at St. Mary in Coventry and he taught a couple of years of vacation bible school at St. Joseph in Willimantic. He was an active member of The Knights of Columbus in Coventry. Jerry’s passion was his involvement with the ACTS  Retreat Program. He was dedicated to the teaching and evangelization of Jesus Christ. Jerry was a man who lived his Catholic faith and stood by its teachings even when he faced indifference and ridicule. He was a man of God. “And now abide faith, hope, love, these three: but the greatest of these is love.”  Jerry was a man who loved deeply. Weather permitting, his family will receive relatives and friends Monday, 2/18/13, from 5 to 8 pm at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic, CT. His Funeral Mass will be concelebrated Tuesday, 2/19/13, at 11am in St. Mary Church, Valley St. Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Club Rd. Windham.
