Obituary for Jill E. Dumas
Jill Eileen Dumas of West Hartford passed away May 5, 2022 in the 39th year of her life.
Born on February 22, 1983, she grew up in Hampton, across the street from her grandparents and next door to her Uncle Bob, among life-long neighbors and life-long friends. She graduated from Parish Hill High School in 2001 and Catholic University in 2005 with a degree in Psychology and Spanish, eventually working in social services. She remained in Washington, D. C. for the next 12 years, moved to Florida in 2017 where she gave birth to her son, Felix, and returned to Connecticut in 2019 to be closer to family.
Jill made many, many friends everywhere she lived. Her warmth was magnetic. Passionate and compassionate, she was an ardent defender of marginalized people, a gifted writer, generous, loyal, strong, and the funniest person any of us has ever met. Though we will all miss her, wonderful memories of her will always remain in our hearts. Above all, Jill was a loving mother, and her love lives on in the little boy she loved so well.
Predeceased by her grandparents, Claire and Felix Winters, and Barbara and Robert Dumas, she is survived by her son, Felix, her mother and step-father, Dayna and Juan Arriola, her sisters Sarah McDermott and India Arriola, and her uncle Michael Winters, all of Hampton, and her father, Ted Dumas of Griswold, her uncles Jerry, Chris, Greg, and Mark Dumas, her aunt Deb Chapman, and several cousins.
A Mass will be celebrated on Friday July 15, at 11AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church 41 Cedar Swamp Rd, Hampton. There are no calling hours. To send an online expression of sympathy, please visit www.baconfh.com
