Obituary for Joanne J. Roberge
Joanne Jane Roberge of Vernon passed away suddenly Monday afternoon. Joanne was born June 18, 1950 daughter of the late Raoul and Simonne (Arton) Roberge formerly of Willimantic and Black Lake, P.Q. Canada. She grew up in Willimantic at the family home on Prospect Street and attended St. Mary’s School followed by Windham High School, graduating in 1968. After high school Joanne attended business school in Hartford at the advice of her mother to become a secretary. Joanne became an administrative assistant at the University of Connecticut in Storrs for over 30 years, retiring March of 2016. While on campus she met and developed many lifelong friendships with Faculty, Staff and students alike. She was a woman of strong Christian faith, values and a loving and generous heart. Joanne always offered sound advice and helped all in need in many facets of her life. Joanne was a true lady, soft spoken, intelligent and wise. Her biggest passion was her family whom she adored and spoiled with gifts and amazing cuisine.
She leaves behind to mourn her elder son Judd Burnham and his wife Joanna (Kelly) of Mansfield Center, her younger son Joshua Burnham and his wife Stacy (DeBisschop) of Ellington. She leaves behind her four grandchildren who loved their Memere to the moon and back- Andrew Joshua, Alexander Kenneth, Jackson Thomas and Madison Simonne. Also to mourn her loss is her older brother Kenneth Roberge and his wife Geraldine (Ryan) of Florence, SC, a niece Jennifer (Roberge) Donabed of Grafton, MA and many, many cousins including Raymond and Susan Hutt, Anna Vallieres, Lawrence and Cynthia Miffitt and John and Claudette Patricia.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects to the family on Friday October 27, 2017 from 6-9pm at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect Street, Willimantic.
On Saturday October 28, 2017 there will be a funeral mass at 9am at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 46 Valley Street, Willimantic, CT. Please go directly to the church.
Her body will be laid to rest alongside her parents in a private burial at a future date.
