John E. Warinsky, 93, dedicated husband and father, died Monday, December 12, 2022 at Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation after a short illness. Born on April 24, 1929 in Scotland, CT, to John Warinsky and Sophy (Scholtz).
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, M. Olive (Bouthillier), four children and their spouses; John M. Warinsky and Susan Markin of Plymouth, MA., Ann-Marie (Warinsky) and Norman Barry of Tolland, CT, Chuck Warinsky and G. Karen (Lockett) of Woodstock, CT, Tom Prince-Warinsky and Debbie (Prince) of St. Augustine, FL, as well as nine grandchildren; Kyle Barry, Caitlin (Barry) Foran, Kate (Warinsky) Graham and husband Judd, Molly Warinsky, Taylor Warinsky and wife Amanda, Noelle Warinsky and partner Colin Breen, Arden Warinsky and partner Nihad Tutundzic, Brooke Warinsky, Allie Warinsky and six great grandchildren Jonathan, Joey, Luca, Cash, Leila, and Stella. John was predeceased by his five sisters and their husbands; Anna and Edward Tomczyk, Emily and Horace ‘Bud’ Rood, Sophie and John Koziel, Margaret and Harry MacWay, Rose and Roland Trudeau.
A graduate of Windham High School, John was an Air Force veteran serving from 1947-1950. He worked at Pratt and Whitney for over 35 years before retiring. John was also active in the American Legion of Willimantic, coached Little League Baseball and was active with Youth Football for many years. Family and friends were a great source of pleasure for John. In-laws, nieces, nephews, friends, and their children always brought him joy, purpose, and laughter; they were central in his life. John was a sports fan and avid fisherman, particularly rooting for Windham High School, the Red Sox, the New York Giants, ECSU and UCONN teams. He loved big-band music and a swoop around the dance floor to a polka.
He will be deeply missed, though his love and memories are forever instilled in those his life touched. A funeral and celebration of life ceremony will be held in April. Date to be announced. Visitation Wake will take place at Bacon Funeral Home 71 Prospect St Willimantic on Thursday December 29, 2022 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm.
