Obituary for John "Al" Healy
John Alan Healy, 84, of Willimantic, CT, died early morning Tuesday June 19, 2018 at his home surrounded by family and his beloved dogs Joy & Siri. Al was born December 21, 1933 in Willimantic, CT, to James (Jace) and Virginia Healy. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 53 years Jonilyn O’Connor Healy.
Also surviving is his son Chris Healy, daughter Colleen Healy; favorite nephew Tommy DeJesus; daughters-in-law; Missy West & Shelli Healy; grandson Jace A. Healy.
Al’s sons James A. & Keith W. Healy preceded him in death. He is survived by daughter Laurian Healy.
Al was a lifelong resident of Willimantic, parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church and member of the Willimantic Country Club. Al retired from Pratty & Whitney after 40 years of service working his way from the mailroom to management. Upon retirement Al worked at the Willimantic Country Club where he enjoyed his friendships and occasional brush with celebrity, highlighted by Willie Nelson. Al was a devoted fan of his kid’s local athletic careers. Al enjoyed golf, Jeopardy, Johnny Cash, UConn Women’s Basketball, Carl Sagan’s COSMOS/anything on PBS. Al remained disappointed with UCWBB switch from CPTV to SNY…
Visitation is Friday June 22, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Bacon Funeral Home: 71 Prospect St. Willimantic, CT. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00pm on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Church on Jackson Street in Willimantic. Father Larry LaPointe will be officiating. The burial will follow.
