Obituary for John J. Bonafine
John J. Bonafine, 93, of Willimantic, husband of the late Phyllis (Maheu) Bonafine passed away Monday May 20, 2019 at his home. He was the son of the late John and Concetta (Fiorito) Bonafine.
Born on February 20, 1926 in Willimantic, and a lifelong resident, he owned and operated Bergeron’s Supermarket from 1968 to 1982. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II, a member of St. Joseph Church in Willimantic, past President of the Lebanon Lions Club and member of the Holy Name Society.
He is survived by sons, John Bonafine III and wife, Dale Bonafine, Michael J Bonafine and wife, Rita Bonafine; he also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Jean Grahn.
Relatives and friends may call on Thursday May 23, 2019 from 6 to 8PM at Bacon Funeral Home 71 Prospect St, Willimantic. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday May 24, 2019 at 11AM directly at St. Joseph Church 99 Jackson St, Willimantic. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham.
