Obituary for Joseph Denis "Frenchy" Galipeau
Joseph Denis Galipeau, 82, of Willimantic, Beloved husband of Theresa (Gratton) Galipeau, died Wednesday, 2/21/07, in Windham Hospital. He was born Jan. 23, 1925 in St. Ignace, de Stanbridge, Quebec, Canada the son of Joseph D. and Cora (Remillard) Galipeau. He was employed by Pratt & Whitney for many years, retiring 20 years ago. He was an Army veteran of World War 2. Joe “Frenchy” loved music and enjoyed playing the harmonica and accordion for his family. He was very handy and enjoyed working on cars. He brought a ray of sunshine wherever he went and was always available to anyone needing to talk or a helping hand. Besides his wife, his survivors include a son, Dennis Galipeau and his wife, Annette, two daughters; Mary Ann Galipeau and Nancy Galipeau Ouellette and her husband, Ron all of Willimantic; a son, Peter Galipeau and his wife, Susan of Tiffin, Ohio and eleven grandchildren. He also leaves eight brothers and sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters and a brother. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, 2/26/07, at 11 am in St. Mary’s Church in Willimantic. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. The family will receive friends Sunday, from 6 to 8 pm and again Monday, from 10:00 to 10:30 am at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic.
