Obituary for Joseph Jr. Eichner
Joseph Eichner, Jr., 78, of Storrs, beloved husband for 55 years of Mary “Lou” (Rondeau) Eichner, died Friday, 8/18/06, in the U. of CT Health Center in Farmington, CT. He was born Oct. 25, 1927 in Stafford Springs, CT the son of Joseph and Rose (Ruschak) Eichner. He was a well-known restorer of classic Mustangs and Model A Fords. Mr. Eichner was an Army veteran of World War ll, serving in the Pacific with one of the first units to occupy Japan. In Melbourne, Florida, he was a teacher’s aide at Ascension Catholic School. He was a past president of Ascension Church’s Holy Name Society, and a life member of the V.F.W. Besides his wife, “Lou”, his survivors include a son, Joseph Eichner, IV and his wife, Ann of Mansfield Center; a granddaughter, Amanda Eichner also of Mansfield Center; two brothers: His twin Frank Eichner of Storrs and Daniel Eichner of Jacksonville, FL; four sisters: Eleanor Walsh of Vernon, Josephine Marrotte and Janet Frankl of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Phyllis Trowbridge of Brooklyn, CT. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews, a great niece and a great nephew. He was predeceased by a sister, Sylvia Conlombe. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 8/23/06, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church in Willimantic. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Coventry. The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. and again Wednesday, from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic.
