Obituary for Kessenia Gagnon
Kessenia Gagnon, passed away peacefully at home, with dignity and grace and with her family by her side, on December 5, 2020, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Kessenia leaves behind her husband of 37 years, Gilles Gagnon, and her beloved daughter and son-in-law Emilia and Keanan Lamb.

Kessenia was born on August 27, 1956 in Willimantic to Wasyl and Emilia (Colyhan) Kurnyk. In addition to her family, she also leaves behind her siblings: Irene and Rene Goss, Rose and Stephen Dean, Natalka and Michael Paulhus, Myron and Janine Kurnyk. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Olga Kurnyk Ezis.

Kessenia was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Willimantic. She was very active in the Ukrainian community, and was the president of the Ukrainian National Home for many years. She served on many boards and committees throughout her life and was proud to be a former Chair of the Ethics Commission for the Town of Windham.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday Dec 11, at 12PM at St. Joseph Church 99 Jackson St, Willimantic. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following in memory of Kessenia to St. Joseph Church 99 Jackson St, Willimantic, CT. 06226, St. Joseph’s Living Center Chapel 14 Club Rd, Windham, CT. 06280 or to Glioblastoma Foundation P.O.
