Obituary for Lorraine G. Pepin
Pepin, Lorraine G., 93 of St. Petersburg died November 8, 2017. She was born on October 31, 1924 in Willimantic, CT to the late Otis and Yvonne Berard.
Lorraine attended St. Mary’s School and Windham High School in Connecticut. On June 19th, 1948 Lorraine married Francis Pepin at St. May’s Church in Willimantic, CT. She worked at the American Thread Company, Tubridy’s Boutique & retired from Sumner & Sumner Insurance in Willimantic.
Lorraine was elected Justice of the Peace in 2001, finished her husband Francis’s term as Selectman Town of Windham when he passed, was active in Democratic Party as a Delegate to Democratic State Convention , and received the 1st ever Public Service Award from the Connecticut Secretary of State for 25 years of public service.
She enjoyed many activities where she lived, including beading necklaces, baking, arranging flowers, playing bingo, the Out to Lunch Bunch and meeting up with friends for coffee in the gift shop. Lorraine was most proud of her handmade quilts and loved showing them to everyone.
In 2002 she moved to Pennsylvania and then to Florida in 2009 to be with her daughter and son-in-law where she resided until her passing. She was resident of the Marion & Bernard L. Sampson Nursing Center in St. Petersburg Florida for the past 7 years.
Survivors include her children, Patricia McBride & husband, John of Florida, Ronald Pepin & wife, Charlene of Willimantic; brothers, Leon Berard & wife, Lillian of Florida, Norman Berard & wife, Barbara of Willimantic; grandchildren, Christen Wright & husband, John of Texas, Kerry Tedesco & husband, Michael of Pennsylvania, Jennifer McBride of Pennsylvania, Amanda Tasha & husband, Jeffery of Willimantic, Michael Pepin & wife, Lisa of Canterbury; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Pepin and infant son, Michael Pepin.
A mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 29, 2017. A burial to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Club Road, Windham. Following the burial, friends and family are invited to a reception at the Franco American Club, 116 Club Rd, Windham, CT 06280
Donations can be made in her memory to the Marion and Bernard L Sampson nursing home, 255 59th St. N., St. Petersburg, Florida 33710.
