Obituary for Louis Allegro
Louis Allegro, 83, of Windham Center, beloved husband of Angela (Puccia) Allegro, died February 23, 2008 in Windham Hospital. He was born February 29, 1924 in Willimantic the son of Giuseppe and Lucia (Ramondi) Allegro. He was a stone mason employed by the University of CT, retiring in 1986. Mr. Allegro was an Army veteran of World War 2, a life member of the Willimantic Elks, a member of the Italian-American Heritage Society and a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Willimantic. He loved being with his family and friends, was an avid gardener and passionate about his Sicilian culture, often visiting his ancestral homeland. Besides his wife, his survivors include three sons: Joseph Allegro of Willimantic, Vincent Allegro and his wife, Donna of Tolland and Louie Allegro and his wife, Darlene of Lebanon; seven grandchildren: Lane Allegro, Jaime Holder, Justin Allegro, Ryan Allegro, AJ Allegro, Nick Allegro and Devon Allegro and a great granddaughter, Sydney Holder. He also leaves a brother, Joseph Allegro of Windham Center; two sisters: Giuseppina Bruno of Queens, NY and Antoinette Cocchi of Springfield, MA; also, his very special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Salvatore and Giuseppina Puccia of Windham and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Pasquale Allegro and two sisters, Antonina Leta and Maria Allegro. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 2/28/08, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church in Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. and again Thursday, from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic.
