Obituary for Lucienne Imelda (Rondeau) Ducharme
Lucienne Imelda (Rondeau) Ducharme, 91, of Windham, Widow of Rudolph Ducharme, died Feb. 20, 2007. She was born Oct. 18, 1915, the fourth of five children to Laurent and Emma (Dumas) Rondeau in Willimantic, CT. She was educated in Windham schools, and was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Willimantic. In her early twenties, she was employed by National Silk Mills of Coventry, CT. An accomplished seamstress, knitter and cook, she enjoyed gifting her family and friends with her creations. In her later years, she donated hundreds of hours making rosaries for Catholic missions around the world. Lucy is survived by five children and their spouses: Eugene and Gail Ducharme of Chaplin, CT and North Port, FL, Denise and Joseph Pelkey of North Windham, Richard and Nancy Ducharme of Jacksonville, FL, Thomas and Paula Ducharme of York, PA and Lucille and Ted Hill of Eastford, CT; 10 grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, three nieces and two nephews. Her four siblings, a niece and two granddaughters died previously. Lucy’s deep faith and hope in the Lord, her love and devotion to family, her constant desire to put others’ needs before her own, her courage, compassion and steadfast character are a continuing inspiration for family and friends alike. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, 2/23/07, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church in Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. Her family will receive friends Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic.
