Obituary for Lucille M. Desautels
Lucille M. Desautels (Garneau) passed to eternal life on April 5 at the Saint Joseph Living Center in Windham after a three-month illness. She was born in 1935 in St. Fortunat, Québec, Canada to the late Auréus and Fernande (Proulx) Garneau. At age 16, she moved to Willimantic where she met her husband Paul of 62 years. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by an infant sister Dénise, and brothers Dénis and Richard.

Lucille’s true vocation in life was as loving mother and homemaker; however, she also worked tirelessly to raise her family, most recently as a driver for EASTCONN, where she transported students. She believed deeply in the power of volunteering her time and talents to charitable causes, and was a longtime member of the St. Anne Society and St. Mary Ladies’ Guild of her parish—St. Mary Roman Catholic Church.

In addition to her husband, Lucille is survived by her children Gisèle Russo (James), Claudette Marshall (Paul), Donald (Jo-Ann), Gérard, and Jacques (Cherilyn); her beloved grandchildren Danielle, Justine, Nicholas, Valeen, Bridget, Jacob, Dylan and Kyle; and great grandchildren Lilliana and Dominic.

Memorial donations in her name may be made to St. Joseph’s Living Center, 14 Club Rd, Windham CT 06280 or to St. Mary Church, 80 Maple Ave, Willimantic, CT 06226

Friends and relatives are invited to call at Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St., Willimantic, on Monday, April 10 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Church, Willimantic, and burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.
