Obituary for Lyman J. Rivers
Lyman J. Rivers, 77, of Willimantic, beloved husband of Jeannine (Beaulieu) Rivers, died Tuesday, May 01, 2007, in Windham Hospital. He was born September 16, 1929 in Plattsburgh, NY the son of Elmer and Viola (Caron) Rivers. Lyman was employed in the Experimental Engineering Dept. at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford from 1966 to 1993. Previously he was a Brother in the Congregation of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate and served as Clerk of the Work in the construction of the Immaculata Retreat House in Willimantic from 1958 to 1960. He was a communicant, Special Minister of the Eucharist and member of the Family Life Committee at St. Mary’s Church in Willimantic. Besides his loving wife, Jeannine, his survivors include three daughters: Roxanne LaCasse and her husband, Bernard of Willimantic, Mona Hillery and her husband, William of Bangor, ME and Brenda Suchomel and her husband, William of Willimantic; five grandchildren: Daniel, Adam and Michaela Suchomel and Caitlin and Liam Hillery. He also leaves three sisters; Leona Renadette and Theresa Fregeau of Plattsburgh, NY and Sister Linda Rivers, O.P. of Croton-on-Hudson, NY and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Adrian and Walter. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 5/5/07, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Valley St. Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. The family will receive friends Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m. and again Saturday, from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic.
