Madeline Ann Cerreto Gamache Fitzgerald

Madeline Fitzgerald of Lebanon, CT passed away at Hartford Hospital on January 12, 2021.  She was born in Willimantic on January 22, 1938, daughter of Antonio and Irene (Burns) Cerreto. In 1956, Madeline graduated from Windham High School where she enjoyed being a majorette.   She worked as a secretary in many different departments at Windham Hospital for over 30 years.  She married Peter Real Gamache on October 7, 1961.  Together they enjoyed raising their two sons Michael and Eric.  Real preceded her in death on July 9, 1998.    Madeline was later blessed to meet Donald Fitzgerald and they were united in marriage on November 25, 2000. 

Madeline enjoyed her family, friends, cruises, shopping and the casino.  She was a great listener, a wonderful cook and always had a smile for everyone.  She will be missed greatly by her husband Donald Fitzgerald, sons Michael Gamache of Hollywood, Florida and Eric Gamache of Lebanon, CT.   She leaves her siblings Elaine (Phil) Brousseau, Nancy (Bill) Deuel, Robert (Judith) Cerreto, Jan (Timothy) Nuhn and sisters-in-law Fran Cerreto,  Louise Miller, Kathleen Fitzgerald,  and brother-in-law Paul (Deb) Fitzgerald.     Her brother Vincent Cerreto preceded her in death in February 2018.  She also leaves her nephews and nieces Tony Cerreto, Pam Cerreto, Mary Gauthier, Gail Dumaine, Karen Rice, Peter Deuel, Matt Cerreto, Nick Cerreto, Jonathan Leonard and Caleb Nuhn and many great nieces and nephews.     She also leaves her step children, Jan (Dan) Jacobsen, Gary (Joyce) Fitzgerald and Todd (Dawn) Fitzgerald and many step grandchildren and step great grand children. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday Jan 19, at  11AM  at St. Joseph Church 99 Jackson St, Willimantic.  Masks must be worn and social distancing must be observed. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham.  There are no calling hours. To send an online expression of sympathy, please visit www.baconfh.com
