Obituary for Marie Irene (Boucher) Murphy
Marie “Irene” (Boucher) Murphy , beloved wife of Richard Murphy of Willimantic, Ct entered into eternal life on Sunday May 4, 2014 after a long battle with ALS. Irene was born in Hartford, Ct on January 8, 1944 to the late Fernande and Joseph Boucher. Irene is survived by her daughter Denise Houman of Willimantic, her son Stephen, of Willimantic, and son David (Tina Murphy) of Bristol, CT. She leaves her cherished grandchildren: grandsons, Ryan and Matthew of Willimantic, granddaughter Rachael of Willimantic; and granddaughter, Janie of Bristol. She also leaves to mourn her sisters, Therese (Joseph) Testa of Bristol; Victoria Boucher of Portland, OR; Arlene (Jean Louis) Fauteux of Westerly, RI; Diane (John) Favreau, of Marlborough, CT and Madelaine (Robert) Binner of Davidsonville, MD, two brothers-in-law, Walter Murphy of Wethersfield, Ct and William Murphy of Rocky Hill, Ct. She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. Irene will always be remembered for her contagious laugh, her gestures of kindness to all who came in contact with her and her love of polka dancing. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Regency Heights, the VNA and Hospice caregivers of Willimantic, Ct for the wonderful care of Irene. Calling hours are Wednesday, May 7, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St., Willimantic, Ct with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, 99 Jackson St, Willimantic with burial to follow at St Joseph’s Cemetery . In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the ALS Association, 4 Oxford Road Unit D4, Milford, CT 06460.
