Obituary for Marie Rose Steiner
Windham – Marie Rose Steiner, beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (Schnoig) Steiner, passed away on All Souls Day, Friday, November 2, 2012 at Saint Joseph Living Center.   She was predeceased by her much-loved brother Frederick Steiner.  She was born August 13, 1910, and was a life-long resident of Willimantic. Her parents were born in Germany and shortly after marrying moved to South Street in Willimantic, CT to raise their two children. Marie always remembered her childhood very fondly. She lived her life as a faithful and good Catholic, as a member of Saint Joseph Church. Marie helped to run Bingo at Saint Joseph Church every Friday for several years; many still remember her delicious brownies. Â
She was an avid traveler and visited each state of the union except Hawaii. Marie’s first job was at American Thread. After leaving, she went on to National Silk in Coventry, where she worked two years on 5th Avenue in NYC, while employed for them. From there she became a bank teller in several Willimantic banks.
After moving to Saint Joseph Living Center, she attended Mass daily, and was an avid Scrabble player. She was a member of the Saint Joseph Living Center Century Club. She loved living at Saint Joseph Living Center, and she was very grateful to each staff member for their loving care. She was a kind, intelligent, thoughtful and gracious person, and these qualities made her well-loved by the Residents and staff of Saint Joseph Living Center.  She leaves behind many loving friends.  Her Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 10:00 am at Saint Joseph Church, Jackson St. Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. Donations may be made in her memory to Saint Joseph Living Center.
