Obituary for Mary Rose Koepke
Mary Rose (Lariviere) Koepke, 97, of Chaplin, passed into the hands of the Lord on April 18, 2008, at home with family. She was born March 18, 1911 in Willimantic, CT the oldest child of Alfred and Rose (Michaud) Lariviere. She worked at the American Thread Co. and owned and operated the Pappas News and Variety store in Willimantic for many years. She was a Past State President of the Connecticut Rural Letter Carriers Association Auxiliary and had been president of the Windham County Rural Letter Carriers Association Auxiliary for many years and was a lifetime member. She was also a member of the Windham Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Norwich Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Willimantic. She was married to the late Richard J. Koepke for 54 years. She is survived by two sons: Alan and his wife, Barbara of Coventry and Thomas of Chaplin and Westerly, RI; two grandchildren, Tracey Lynn of Durham, NC and Edward of Coventry; and a sister-in-law, Katherine Lariviere of Willimantic. She also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and several great nieces and great nephews and many friends. She was predeceased by two brothers, Eugene Lariviere and Wilfred Lariviere; four sisters: Evelyn Olson, Claire Paquette, Ora French and Geraldine Insalaco. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, 4/21/08, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary Church, Valley St. Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. The family will receive friends Monday, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary Church Repair Fund, 80 Maple Ave. Willimantic, CT 06226 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
